Carl-Henri Morisset

Originally from the Paris region, Carl-Henri performs regularly in France and Europe alongside Riccardo Del Fra, Pierrick Pédron and saxophonist Archie Shepp.


Since 2016, he has recorded three albums, Unknown with saxophonist Pierrick Pédron, Side Stories with Thomas Bramerie Trio and Moving People with Riccardo Del Fra.




Originally from Torcy, in the Paris region, Carl-Henri Morisset (July 24, 1992) began playing the piano at the Michel Slobo music school at the age of 8. In parallel, he studies the saxophone and the clarinet.

In 2011, he obtained his DEM in jazz piano at the departmental conservatory of Val Maubuée (Noisiel) before joining the CNSMDP.

Since his beginnings in jazz piano, he has been able to study alongside Alexis Bosch, Laurent Guanzini, Pierre de Bethmann, Hervé Sellin, Ricciardo Del Fra, Glenn Ferris, Dré Pallemaerts.


Since 2014, he has performed regularly in Europe with Riccardo Del Fra in various formations such as My Chet My Song, Open Book and Moving People.


Currently, he performs in Europe ( Bimhuis, Ronnie's Scott ) and in the world ( New Orleans Jazz festival and the Festival International de Montreal ) with the saxophonist Archie Shepp and his quartet, his big band Attica Blues and other projects alongside such as Mos Def , Randy Brecker , Reggie Washington , Hamid Drake .

Since 2016, he has recorded three albums. Unknown , with the French saxophonist Pierrick Pédron ( Thomas Bramerie - double bass and Greg Hutchinson - drums ) then, Side Stories with the Thomas Bramerie trio ( Thomas Bramerie - Double bass and Elie Martin-Charrière - Drums ). Finally, Moving People with Riccardo Del Fra . A project born in Berlin, during which Carl-Henri meets the Polish trumpeter Tomasz Dabrowski and the German saxophonist Jan Prax . They are joined on this album by drummer Jason Brown , saxophonist Rémi Fox and guitarist Kurt Rosenwinkel .


He also leads a joint project, since 2015, with four musicians (Etienne Renard, Bastien Weeger, Elie Martin-Charrière) from the CNSM, with the H quartet! .


In 2018, Jazz Magazine included him in the list of 20 pianists to follow and was nominated as Revelation of the year.
